Luke 24:13-43; John 20:19-31 Happy Easter

Luke 24:13-43; John 20:19-31             That same day, two of the followers, were walking on the road to Emmaus, about seven miles away from Jerusalem. As they walked, they discussed the things that had happened in the last few days in Jerusalem. They did not notice Jesus appear and walk along with them as they spoke. He prevented their eyes from recognizing Him. He asked them, "Can you tell Me more about these things you have been sharing?" When they realized there was someone with them, they stopped and looked at the man with sadness in their eyes. Cleopas said to the stranger, "You must be the only person in Jerusalem who does not know about these happenings." He replied, "I may be, would you tell me more?" And they told him about Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth, and all of His miracles and teachings. They went on to talk about the Jewish leadership sentencing Him to death and with the help of the Romans, they crucifie...

Beginning His Last Week of Life; The Poor, the Procession, and the Praise

INTO JERUSALEM FOR THE FINAL WEEK OF JESUS’ LIFE   John 11:55-57      At this time, people were coming from all over the country to Jerusalem for the annual feast of Passover. They came seeking to be purified through the Temple ceremonies. Most of the people spent as much time as they could in the Temple hoping to see Jesus for the first time and see Him perform some miracles. Others wondered if He would come to the feast at all. The Jewish leaders had given out orders for people to let them know if they saw Him, so they could come and arrest Him. Martha, Lazarus' sister was serving Jesus supper at their home when her sister, Mary, did something unexpected. She took a very expensive perfume and began to pour it over Jesus' feet. Then she used her hair to w...

Matthew 6; Praying, Fasting, and Living without Worry

Matthew 6; Teaching the People, pt. 3   “Another thought about prayer, God does not need to hear a bunch of flowery prayers, extra words, and repetitive requests. He wants us to talk with Him about what is on our heart. To let Him know what we are thinking. He does not listen to us because we speak well or talk a lot, He hears our heart. He already knows our needs before we ask. He just desires us to talk with Him.   “Pray like this: Our Father who dwells in heaven, glorious is Your Name. Help us to live as if we are in Your kingdom here and now, so that we might do what You desire us to do now, in the same way we will do when we get to heaven. We desire Your will to be done in our lives.   “Provide for us the food we need for today, and again tomorrow. Forgive us for the things we do against You to the same extent as we forgive others. Keep us from the temptations in life and when we succumb, deliver us. For the kingdom belongs to You along with all th...
